Climate change makes weather unpredictable and cataclysms more frequent. In this new reality, it’s especially important to know if you or your loved ones might be in danger.

In France, there already is a system that alerts you in case of imminent danger to you. With Trela, we aspire to go even further, letting you choose to be informed even if danger is not certain or if it concerns someone far away that you care about.

The problem

Internal company research suggests that risks of cataclysms makes the French anxious and uncertain about the future, even in short-term. Furthermore, people with elderly parents in remote locations say there’s no easy way of knowing if their parents are in danger.

The solution

Trela is an app that allows one to stay informed about events that could impact their or their loved ones’ safety.

Design principles

Clarity

Giving the user easy-to-understand information about presence or absence of warnings is the app’s main goal.

Accessibility

While always important, making sure the app can be used by a very broad range of people with varying abilities is especially important in the context of danger alerts.

Agency

Allowing the users to specify which information interests them, thus preventing information overload.
